An Oil and Gas company needs two personnel to fill the above-subject position. I am expected once again to send names without these personnel going through a normal recruitment process. I am suppose to trust whoever I refer not to soil my company’s brand and herein lies the dilemma. I have trained so many people to be proficient in the needed tools to be able to interpret this position perfectly but how many of them are willing to authenticate these skills through the individual project assignments given in class. Despite the motivations – Not one!
The Cost Controller is expected to be proficient in Earned Value Management (EVM) technique to control cost of projects in excess of 20 Billion Naira and the Scheduler is suppose to use tools like MS Project and Primavera to proficiently interpret the Critical Path Method technique to scheduling. On a theoretical point of view, these might seem easy enough playing with a sandbox but when a live Oil and Gas production risks 300K Dollars per day from poor planning – we must realize how important it is for individuals who invest in this training, take their simulations exercises seriously.
