Why are Nigerians crazy about expensive mobile phones that are mediocre in terms of smart functionality? My journey towards repentance started when I procured a 240 USD (N36, 000) ThL Phone in December as yuletide gift to my business partners – I decided to try one out for the kicks. Oh my God! This phone is 5X better than my N85, 000 Bold 5. In fact it can do practically everything with HD experience and far more. My favorite part is when I receive an SMS far away from my phone and it asks me if I want it to read it or ignore. I seriously cannot get enough of it.
Compared to my BlackBerry that cost me N3, 000 per month for maintenance and the Internet connection is epileptic – this phone cost me far less to maintain its data plan with so many tricks to maximize your data plan at almost WIFI speed. I have stopped using my tablet because the phone does everything my tablet can do and more. I still wonder what the big deal is about Black Berry phones. I seriously do not see the value – I have been using it for about 4years now and I still do not get the appeal. The only reason I have not stopped is because of the BBM with numerous friends and customers but I am seriously thinking of saying bye-bye to BlackBerry – an expensive mediocre smart phone.
