THE PLATFORM – OCTOBER 1ST

If you get a control group consisting five individuals and ask each of them to look at a piece of stone; each of them will read different meanings to what they see on first thought, This is what is called conditioning; each person viewing from various lens. The object is the stone and the subjective view is premised on your experience, calling and exposure.

This is why in realism, nobody is telling the truth because individuals are products of perpetual mapping. This is why I hardly argue with people anymore – what is okay for me may not be okay for you. We are all seeing through different lenses. Then how can we then define the right path to success (or what I will call happiness). This is also debatable; let me give you an example;

There is a major position in the entrepreneurial world that you need a business plan to venture in to a business. I studied the background of some successful entrepreneurs and realized that most of them never even wrote one business plan before their business became a success. They may have written the business plan after the success but not when they are starting out.

The funny part is that when you hear these entrepreneurs speak; their first bullet point is “get a business plan”. They believe that it is important for you not to follow their process but in order to make it easy for you they ask to take a different route. There is actually no problem in writing a business plan but there is an issue in implementing the business plan you have written.

100% of business plans are not implemented successful because of the variables that exist in the market place. You need to constantly tweak the business plan to achieve results. Then why do people write business plan? To attract investors capital; this is the simplest reason I can come up with because all other reasons encourage analysis-paralysis. Reality is thus the ultimate arbiter of truth.

Face reality on time; fail quickly if you need to gain better clarity of your chosen field and lastly borrow the lenses of those who have faced this reality and succeeded. This latter statement is my reason for writing this article because on October 1st, some group of successful entrepreneurs will be speaking at the platform at the cricket pitch, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos starting by 9pm.

The theme of this event resonates strongly with me; re-building our cities through economic empowerment; entrepreneurship as the key strategy. Different minds will be viewing this topic based on their lenses but the reality is that they are successful. It depends on you to accept the path of entrepreneurship that aligns with your person. The following speakers are:

1.      David Oyedepo: Founder and chancellor of Covenant University, Lagos. Pastor of a 50, 000 congregations. He got to this position through strong instinctual artistic path; teaching, authoring, branch building, counseling, etc.

2.      Ibukun Awosika: Founder of Chair Center Limited; a leading office furniture maker. She got to this position through focus on office furniture making.

3.      Demola Aladekomo: Founder of Chams Nigeria Limited; IT based company credited for introducing value card in Nigeria. He got to this position by introducing IT innovation to the Nigerian Market.

4.      Leke Alder: The founder of Alder Consulting; a thought-oriented solution based outfit. He is an outstanding speaker and author. He got to this position by leaving his law degree to pursue business.

5.      Robert H Keller 3: A renowned venture capitalist in the African Domain.

6.      Sharron Mcpherson: She is the founder of Capital One Corporation. A multi-million dollar lawyer who gave up her lucrative job in wall street, New York  to build a multi-million dollar women group.

These are the actors of the program. You can start your independence day by gaining sight; sight is the most important aspect of any business. The famous Pauline prayer starts by praying to God to open the eyes of his understanding. Hope to see you there!
