Right versus Successful Too

Wow, I just resumed from a 4-day break from work, and I utterly had a good rest. Well didn’t we all, especially those living and working in Nigeria. The topic above is a sequel to a heated discussion I had with my dear readers on this blog and a must-write for me in order to substantiate my opinion and thus learn from other people’s opinion on this very important topic. To read the first part click HERE. I believe you will have a good time as you bury yourself in this thought-through article.More...

Have you ever wondered why there are divisions amongst the people that believe in Jesus Christ? We have the Catholics, the Jehovah Witness, the Seventh Day Adventist, the Anglicans, the Celestial Church of God and the people general referred to as “Born Again”. Even amongst the “Born Again”, we have numerous sects based on leadership, affiliations and beliefs. Despite these groupings, there is a general view of what is defined as “right” and a sectarian view. Even the homogeneous definition of “right” by the Christians differs from other religions like Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. If this doesn’t prove the relativity of the definition of “right”, then looking at it from various geopolitical cultures, one definitely knows that what is agreed as “right” in a place is frowned on by others.

Let’s take it into the context of Christianity; success in God can be defined simply as obedience to His Spirit. This definition in itself may cause a lot brainstorming and wondering but don’t fret yourself that’s simply what it is. In order to be successful in God, you have only one assessor and His name is El-Shadai – the three in one God. Have you ever wondered what pisses Jesus off the most on earth (at least as recorded in the bible)? It is the conditioned and congealed mindset of the Pharisees, scribes and seduces. These sets of people have a strong belief of what they define as “right” but a parochial belief of the organic nature of “right”. Right in itself is organic thus progressive and this makes it a perspective issue. The context of what is right is based on levels of maturity in any given field but following the Christian faith, right is based on who is downloading the latest frequency from God. This brings a subtle issue of when one can decipher who is right or wrong at certain seasons of one’s life. Success is a strong indicator of what is considered right. But before I go further, I would love us to understand the true nature of what success is.

If I say a certain man is successful, what comes to your mind? A man with enormous amount of money, a man at the best of his career, a man with an enviable family, a man with revered wisdom, a man in a leadership position influencing others to great causes, a man that leaves his footprints in the sands of time, a man with great fame or a conglomerate of all the above phrases and clauses. If any of these definitions comes to mind, it simply makes success a subjective element thus arguable. How then do we live on earth with a conditioned mentality of success? The absolute judge of success is God not man. This makes what we refer to as “right” very questionable. Even in God, no man can absolutely conclude to what is right. God prefers man not eating from the tree of good and evil (right or wrong) but from the tree of life.

Let me back this up with a story from the bible; the Israelites in Numbers 25 were influenced by the Moabite daughters into harlotry and God sent a plague to kill the Israelite. Phinehas, the grandson of Aaron, defied the recent promulgated 6th Commandment, by killing an Israelite and his Medianite woman at the congregation of the Israel while they were weeping to God to revert the plague judgement. God was so happy with Phinehas that he stopped the plague and blessed Phinehas together with his descendants with the covenant of peace. Why was God not concerned with the fact that Phinehas defied the law by killing another fellow human? God was more concerned with the thoughts behind the act not the act. Would you say Phinehas was right? Would you say Phinehas was successful?

This is just one in many examples that makes me come to the conclusion that I would rather be successful than right…….
