MY BESTMAN’S WEDDING

Picture(60).jpgPicture(66).jpgPicture(65).jpg

Ajibola oduwole retires from professional bridegroom on the 16th September, 2006 when he celebrated his love for Temitope in a glamorous Traditional Wedding held at Akute, Ogun State (You have to cross 7 mountains and 7 seas). The Oil guys were fully represented from the likes of Chevron big boys, NNPC guys to “bobos” from various oil servicing firms (Na waoo, these are young guys that made it big in Lagos).

Moi too was fully represented from Dipo Tepede.POeT taking pics with Sony Ericsson Phone (lol). Well, check me out with the oil guyz!

I hope you had a good laugh. It was simply a traditional marriage done with the full Yoruba etiquettes and culture. The process is as follows; the grooms family request for the bride with a letter, the brides parents accept it, the groom is escorted by his friends to the center of the event after paying various gate charges, the groom with friends prostrate to the bride parents, the groom is accepted, bride walks in with friends with a covered face, grooms parents open the covering on the face with money, the bride sits with the groom and they are prayed for by the groom and bride’s parents. Then the newly wedded couples dance, dance and dance. I forgot the spraying part.

I enjoyed myself big time as I danced more than the bridegroom “sef”. The Oil guys were pulling Ijebu stunts as none of them sprayed dollars (lol). Anyway it ended on a lovely note.

I remember 6 months ago asking Ajibola on his birthday when he was going to start dating not to talk of marriage. He said he wasn’t interested in any female company as he wanted to set himself up for something big before he tows that journey. He said marriage should come 3 years from then. Well, 4 weeks ago the guy called me and said he was getting married. Wow, you can imagine my surprise. I asked him what made him decide to get married amidst all his precious plans. He said “I have found what I want in a woman and I don’t want to lose her. She is an asset.”

Isn’t that very romantic?

Well, how many women are prepared to be assets that will not make a man think twice before considering marriage to them (especially at an accelerated pace). How many?
