Pocket Filled with Holes

In the world of personal finance, there is too much emphasis on earning as opposed to spending. After careful thought, I realized this worldview is a deep-rooted issue that has caused vices like corruption, fraud, oppression and lack of contentment. There is so much agitation to increase our personal asset but the biblical perception does not condemn wanting an increase in fact it supports it; its interest lies more in the “how” the increase takes place.

I used to believe that in order to increase my level in life, I needed to earn more than I was presently earning. The logic was simple – if I was earning a monthly salary of 125K today, I needed to earn 350K to get a better life. There was a flaw in this logic – the more I earned, the more I spent – new avenues of spending immediately crops up. I deluded myself into believing that I could discipline myself through savings but this was a hopeless situation because I could easily envision future inflation.

I decided to start spending to earn more than the 350K, I was presently earning. I joined the Personal Finance bandwagon of investing in a defined asset like shares, real estate, commodities, etc. I made more losses than gains despite my sacrifices on luxury spending. I was at a crossroad – what do I do? The fear of the future was gaining on me – a simple letter of sack would change my world. I hated fear so much that I did something drastic – I quit my job!

The life of trading was totally different – adrenaline, fun, independence, travel, inconsistent earnings, etc. I enjoyed it but after 3 years of being successful at it, I wanted more. I realized that it was not about more money but about more people I empowered. I started the Project Management classes and July class will mark 2 years with varying achievements that makes me smile. I realized that the more I sow into this education business, the better person I have become.

I remember 12 years ago, people with computer skills differentiated themselves from the crowd but the ubiquitous nature of the skill in this modern era makes it irrelevant. Now the lingo in cooperate business is no longer computer automated but “projectized” environment. Anybody who can manage projects within schedule, on budget and scope, will definitely differentiate him/herself. With enormous percentage of failed projects, the demand for experienced PM is skyrocketing.

Education is the only asset that does not have holes in it. Spending to educate yourself can never haunt you. July 7th is our next Project Management Professional (PMP) Classroom Training and it comes with FREE Six Sigma Black Belt Training valued at 200K Naira. In order to continue improving and maintaining our quality training, we would be increasing our price from September 2012. “We go beyond career advancement or economic empowerment. One very dramatic thing happens to those that attend our trainings – they see their world differently. This change in mindset alone will make improvement in their personal lives and work environment. It will eliminate countless frustrating problems and add priceless value.”
