It all started on Friday when I walked into my office with a Chelsea jersey and every one was looking at me as if I was from outer space. The truth was that I have never discussed football in the office before not to talk placings allegiance to a particular European team but I shocked them by wearing a team’s jersey that just lost out in the champion’s league campaign. What was I trying to accomplish? To show that being taciturn does not mean inactivity and loyalty is more important to temporal success.
Football is synonymous to life. It has a time limit of 90 minutes and can be extended based on the inability to decide a winner. So is life, it has a time limit and can also be extended. The beauty of football is that there is a goal to be accomplished; win by scoring goals better than your opponent through team effort so is this life that we inhabit; you have to fulfill your purpose through team effort. Life also has its own coaches, umpires, lines men and spectatators. As players practise to enter a match, so we are expected to practise to fulfill our destiny.
Now another thing that intrigue me about football is the fan base; most Nigerian fans of the European leagues supports a team because their fellow Nigerians are playing there. Let’s start with Arsenal; Kanu was the puller here and it amazes me how peeps deny this but when Kanu left to Portsmouth, peeps still stayed with Arsenal. This means my theory was wrong. Why do I like Chelsea? Truth be told, my favourite team is Juve because of the characteristics, tradition and history of the team. I truly love this team. My love for Chelsea comes from their coach Murinho – the guy is controversial and result oriented. Its a pity he could not pick up the league this time around.
Okay, another strange thingy happened to me on Sunday when I received a call from a dear friend that I opined that Club Freedom was a scam. I was so shocked that I forgot about the meal I was about to take. An impostor has signed into the comment section with my name and has written using my style of writing. One of the stuffs that came to my mind was to place a moderator on this site and check every post that passes through the comment section before it appears.
My training on the first 10 ammendment of the constitution of America popularly known as the Bill of Rights got the better of me. So I tell myself if for an impostor, I strangle the rights to free speech et al, then I am not different from the leaders that subvert the constitution for emmergency sake like terorism, etc. So I had a rethink and I had no solution to prevent this mischief from ever taking place again. Freedom comes with a price though and I believe a collective responsibility from dear readers shoul be employed to put this impostor to a halt.
Back to musing, I watched 300 and I was disappointed; all the hypes and noise. I have always dreaded listening to peep’s opinion on films but this time I just fell into the exodus syndrome. My time is quite precious to me so taking time out to watch such film meant a lot to me. I would have preferred watching Blood Diamond a second time than watch 300; anyway this could be my mapping. I am even thinking of reviewing films on this site. What do you think readers?
My wife’s bizness is metamorphosing to a full juice business and its doing quite well. I thank God for the grace she has given her at such an early stage of business. Nothing in life is by struggle or by power, its the cheer grace of God. Before she started her business, I had an interview with a 32 year old igbo trader who was has little or no formal education and he is doing very well in the line of spare part and used car business. This igbo trader is my land lord and my house is a deluxe service flat. There are great nuggets from the interview; I would be posting it soon.
Well, till my next post……..
