To my dear readers; please, forgive me for the inconsistency in my postings. I have not gotten myself at the moment because so many things are vying for my attention; from my new unit where I was deployed to learn the ropes of the business a fresh, to my MBA programme, to the new location I live where I have to master new routes to beat traffic, to my church, to my personal business, to my blog and most importantly my wife and baby girl (not to talk about the numerous other activities I can’t recall at the moment). I wonder how I am going to juggle all these important activities but I believe all of them would stabilize with time; please, pray for me because I need wisdom. Today we have a guest blogger in the house by the name of BOLAJI OSINUGA. Check out is write-up on the legendary character of Ian Flemming;
“Bond. James Bond.†Since Sean Connery first uttered that iconic phrase in Dr. No, not less  than one quarter of the world’s population has seen a 007 film. Witty and urbane, Bond seduces and kills with equal ease — often; it seems, with equal enthusiasm. This enthusiasm, coupled with his freedom to do what is forbidden to everyone else, evokes fascinating philosophical questions. This bears the paradox of breaking the law in order to ultimately uphold it like any “stupid policemanâ€.
There is much to be said about this character but one recurring fact is his adeptness in sorting out impossible issues. After much thoughts and calculations, I realized that the probabilities of those impossible events were close to but not zero. And how won’t the deeds and performance of a film’s hero be convincing enough to strike a demarcation?

At the outset of 2007, it sounded funny branding the year as year of 007 – James Bond. But analyzing my thoughts from the finale activities of 2006 till now, it seems this year bears a consonance with the character of Mr. Bond. In our own “worldâ€, we will term Mr. Bond as someone living in the supernatural, which is the core of this present season. Mr. Bond always plunges into “unthinkable†dealings that display wits, depths and focus.

Someone may disclaim saying Mr. Bond is not the best of characters to emulate a new year after, as he’s got his flaws. However, we often just want to relate with the strength of such a character and avoid the struggles of his weakness. A good scripture that comes to mind is when the writer of Hebrews told us to strip away weights and sins that easily put us down, for these will limit our access to God. A weight in itself is not a sin but it limits our connection to God. For some, it might be a “movie magic or premiership†and for others, it might just be sheer laziness. And we all know what our struggles are in terms of these sins and weights.
I think this is a season in which God has chosen to showcase Himself and His gods, in his own grand purpose. As we know, God is not bound by our calendar and that is why I’m adopting the scheme of a season. I don’t exactly know how but I sense it’ll break forth soon. Two things are imperative as we forge ahead: faith and alignment. This season demands a high-level of belief in God which leverages on the “faith of a mustard seed†and a proper alignment with His script (purpose).

There has been only one Ian Fleming, the writer of the Bond story, but there have been 6 different blokes featuring as Bond in Ian Fleming’s scripts till date. They are all different folks but the same traits flow through all of them as Mr. Bond- the hero, acting the script. For you to live God’s script, it evidently reflects one’s knack to hear the voice of God and the willingness to do. If you tune to 93.5 MHz on a good radio in Nigeria, you will definitely not hear the voice of Dan Foster because you’re not tuned to Cool FM. The emphasis is on proper alignment and discernment. It’s His (God’s) show and not ours!

We have to contend earnestly for the faith that was delivered to us. Mr. Bond isn’t portrayed as the ever lucky chap who wallows away in laziness or fantasy without any input or action. We must diligently seek God’s face and develop a deep bond with Him. We will then hear His voice and develop a capacity (the traits) to do. This is a season of dreaming “dreamsâ€. Don’t lose focus of your dreams and don’t ever get tired of dreaming more dreams. Always wake up to live those dreams. And in all, don’t ever lose track on this journey.
Ye are gods; don’t die like mere men!
You’re welcome once again to ‘007, the year of Xtraordinary happenings.
