JESUS – The Richer Man

I woke up this morning feeling indecisive about what to do. I knew whatever I decided to do will be based on the premise of becoming a very wealthy man. So I made a list of the difference between the rich and the poor and I came up with the following;

  1. The poor man uses his heart to love his woman, the rich man uses his mind
  2. The poor man looses peace over making money, the rich man looses peace during money-making
  3. The poor man says he does not have money while the rich man says he is broke
  4. The poor man has plenty of close friends; the rich man has few close friends.
  5. The poor man always buys things at the local market but wishes he could bargain at the supermarket. The rich man always bargains at the local market and buys at impulse at the supermarket.
  6. The poor man prays for 2 hours to stay in a rich man’s pay roll while the rich man prays for 2 hours to maintain the poor man’s pay.
  7. The poor man is proud and arrogant over his self esteem while the rich man is proud and arrogant over his self-image.
  8. The poor man gives his hard-earned money to the rich to save and invest for him while the rich man depends on the poor to make money for himself.

After examining this exhaustive list, I realize the only difference between this two set of people is their thoughts (perspective, viewpoint, perception, outlook, name it whatever you want to) not their money. Wow, what a revelation? If only one can think like the rich, then he is rich. Just the thoughts, can you imagine?

Kindly, mutter this creed with me;

Thoughts breed Action

Action breeds Habit

Habits breeds Character

Character breeds the Person

Let me give you a gist about a certain rich man, who had achieved immense wealth together with outstanding morals, heard Jesus talking about achieving another kind of wealth labeled the eternal life. He wanted to achieve this so he sought to ask Jesus, what he should do. He went with his usual way of breaking the ice with flattery but was caught off guard. He later learnt he had to change his level of thought from possessing to self-sacrificing but this was difficult because he was conditioned to possessing. No wonder, Jesus said only child-like thinking (ability to re-think easily) will inherit this eternal life.

The rich man actually wanted something richer without changing his thoughts.This rich man reminded me of Bill Gates, worked his way through life and achieved wealth but sensed their was a greater wealth and wanted to achieve this but just like this rich man he was told to let go of  his possessive thinking into an altruistic thinking. Well, guess what Jesus is still the richest man that ever lived; he has the largest employees in the world, his book is the best selling book in the world and he exemplifies the ultimate thought pattern. 1. I think you missed the point of the Bible story and of being rich. Being rich is a horid thing. The rich man couldn’t give up his wealth to follow the most powerful man in the world – universe. Even the disciples were distraught because they felt they were rich. The Christ – the maker of the universe – said – with man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible. You can’t think yourself anywhere, anytime, anything without Him.

    Look at all the lottery winners and their stories.

    Being rich, doesn’t get it. Doing it on your own is worse. Jesus is the answer. He was a poor homeless blue collar worker that was beat and killed and he is my Friend.

    Sorry you have been taken by the crafty one.
